Exhibition ‘Schetsen van Schoonheid’ in Gouda
(Sketches of Beauty) 23 November 2011 - April 9, 2012
The exhibition at museumgoudA presents the finest drawings of the celebrated glass-painter Dirck Crabeth (c. 1510-1572), whose patrons included Prince William of Orange and King Philip II of Spain. They are full-size drawings, varying in height from 5 to 22 metres. They both document the design process and are works of art in their own right, among the finest produced during the Netherlandish Renaissance.
In the nearby Sint-Janskerk, dating from 1552, visitors can admire the 72 colourful stained-glass windows. The church is among the top 100 Dutch UNESCO monuments.

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix opened the exhibition officialy on November 22. Tom Hage, chairman of Goudse Sint-Jan, presente don this occasion the book “De Cartons van de Sint-Janskerk”.
