Refo500 welcomes Italian partners
05-04-2011
The partnership with the Fondazione per le scienze religiose Giovanni XXIII in Bologna (Italy) last Monday has been confirmed by the signing of the contract. Director Alberto Melloni signed the contract for the Fondazione and then reported that the University of Modena-Reggio also wants to become a partner, so that the contract with this university was signed as well.
The signing took place after a meeting with the approximately 20 employees of the FSCIRE, mostly PhD students working on various research projects. The FSCIRE is a research institute with one of the largest libraries in Europe in the field of church history. The institute was founded in 1953 by Giuseppe Dosetti, a famous reform politician, and is now one of the major research centers in Europe for religious studies.
During the meeting FSCIRE announced that they plan to offer within Refo500 a summer course Latin, whereby the Latin version of Luther's theses on the relation between God and man are studied. Students are welcome in Bologna during the summer recess 2011. Further plans are considered on various conferences with topics as the image of the Protestant Reformation in Catholic literature and whether cooperation is possible in digitization projects.
