08-09-2011

On the night of November 1 and 2 in 1561, Guido de Brès threw a specimen of the Dutch Profession of Faith (Confessio Belgica) over the castle wall at Doornik. The Theological University of Kampen will commemorate that event on Tuesday November 1 with a symposium.

The morning program features two main lectures: Patrick Nullens (Professor of Systematic Theology at ETF) will speak on the importance of NGB today. Arie Baars (Professor of Dogmatic History at the TUA) will comment on the talks from the NGB regarding God as three in one. After this lecture there will be a presentation on the reissuing of the commentary of J. Koopman on NGB from 1939.

Afterwards, four similar sessions will be held:

  • Andreas Beck (Professor of Church History from ETS):The NGB in the Light of the Theology of Reformed Orthodoxy;
  • Niels den Hertog (Currently working on a thesis on J. Koopmans) will offer a workshop based on the book by J. Koopmans.
