The Council of Trent (closed 1563) is one of the milestones in the history of the Catholic Church. As part of the Catholic reform and counter-Reformation there was a greater emphasis on the training of secular priests.
Leuven Catholic University has organized an international colloquium on 30 September and 1 October 2010 on 'De opleiding van de seculiere geestelijkheid aan grootseminaries en universiteiten in de Lage Landen tijdens de Nieuwe Tijd' ('The training of the secular clergy in major seminaries and universities in the Low Countries during the early Modern period').
